In 2006, Madeline Izzo, a member of the First Unitarian Church of Pittsburgh, PA, wrote a play about Rachel Corrie, an American human rights activist who was killed on March 16, 2003, by an Israeli bulldozer while non-violently protecting the home of a Palestinian pharmacist and his family in Rafah in Gaza. This play, which calls for three actors, was presented at the First Unitarian Church of Pittsburgh in the fall of 2006 and again in the spring of 2007. With the sponsorship of the Ohio-Meadville District, the play was also presented at the 2007 General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association to a standing-room-only audience of more than two hundred and forty people. Rachel Corrie's parents, Cindy and Craig Corrie, attended the performance at General Assembly.
