Resolution
to Encourage a Means to Support Canadian Youth Programming
Co-Sponsors: Stu Neils-Kraft, Tim Murphy, Sam Trumbull,
Jodi Slezak, Allison Dawe, Ed Irvin, Rachelle Rickards
Point Person: Sam Trumbull
Primary Aids: Jodi Slezak, Allison Dawe, Stu Neils-Kraft,
Ed Irvin
UU Principle: Youth Empowerment, Goal of World Community
Specific Problem Being Addressed: Due to the separation
of the CUC and UUA, funding for youth programming in Canada has
been greatly reduced. YRUU as a continental organization is responsible
to its entire constituency, therefore it is important to fulfill
these responsibilities by any means possible to assure the continuance
of youth programming.
Hope to Achieve: Raise enough money to assist in fulfilling
the need for YRUU programming in Canada.
Short Term Goal: Districts, should they support the cause,
maybe encouraged to help in any way possible, such as establishing
a conference tax of at least $1 (US) per conference attendee or
other means of fundraising to be sent to the DOLL (Director of Lifespan
Learning)
Steps to Achieve:
1. Presentation of this resolution to district YACs or DYSCs.
Who: YCRs Deadline: October 31, 2002
2. Establish communication with point person regarding conferences.
Who: Sam Trumbull Deadline: December 31, 2002
3. Each district YAC needs to come up with a process for implementation
based upon how their finances are handled.
Who: YCRs Deadline: December 31, 2002
4. YCRs should be in contact with one another throughout the year
to communicate the various implementation procedures.
Who: YCRs Deadline: Ongoing
5. Send the money to the CUC DOLL.
Who: District YAC treasurer or equivalent Deadline: Ongoing
6. Repeat this process for each conference.
Who: Districts Deadline: Ongoing
7. This issue will be re-evaluated every year for the next three
years; should the CUC be able to send their YCRs to Youth Council
and hold youth conferences on a regular basis without financial
assistance from outside groups at any point throughout this period,
districts will be informed that this aid is no longer needed.
Evaluation: Point Person will stay in contact with YCRs,
keeping track of the numbers and staying in dialogue with the CUC
DOLL about how the money is being used. This information will be
presented to next year's Youth Council.
Long Term Goals: To support the CUC's youth programming
efforts and enable them to become a self-sufficient, financially
stable, and well-supported organization.
How this will further the Principles and Vision of YRUU:
It will support and encourage youth programming and youth empowerment.
How this will further the greater denomination and the world:
It will help spread YRUU and UUism outside the UUA and the United
States
Fiscal Impact: None
