BY-LAWS PNWD LREDA                                                                              Revised 2/05

 

 

PREAMBLE

The Pacific Northwest District Chapter of LREDA is hereby established to promote religious growth and learning of people of all ages, to advocate for and support religious educators and the field of religious education in the PNWD.

 

Article I – PURPOSE

The purpose of the PNWD Chapter of LREDA shall be to:

A.      Function as a support system for chapter members

B.     Encourage the sharing of useful materials and ideas members have used in their work

C.     Act in an advisory capacity to the PNWD Religious Education Committee and as experienced resource people to other groups and individuals in the PNWD

D.     Carefully consider ways to advance religious education for people of all ages

E.     Support the ethical code and professional standards of LREDA

F.      Uphold the work of LREDA at the continental level

G.     Encourage communication and interaction with the District UUMA

 

Article II – MEMBERSHIP

Any LREDA member within the PNWD is eligible for membership in the PNWD LREDA Chapter.  All dues-paying members of this chapter may vote.

 

Article III – OFFICERS

A.      The Officers shall be President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer

B.     The President shall call, convene, and preside over membership meetings.  The Vice President shall substitute in the absence of the President and perform other tasks as assigned by the President.  The Secretary shall take and distribute minutes of the meetings.  The treasurer shall handle the finances, prepare annual financial reports and propose annual budgets in consultation with the Board. 

C.     Officers shall be elected at the Annual Meeting.  They shall serve for a three-year term, and no more than two consecutive terms in the same or different position.  No more than two officers from the same cluster may serve at the same time.

D.     Ballots shall be mailed out with the notice of the membership meeting.  Candidates receiving the most votes cast shall be elected.

 

Article IV – COMMITTEES

Committees shall be appointed by the President and serve as needed.

 

Article V – DUES AND FINANCES

A.      Annual dues shall be determined by the membership

B.     Dues shall be payable at the beginning of each church year, September 1 to August 31.

C.     Non-payment of dues by February 1 shall result in lapse of membership

D.     The Treasurer shall prepare a financial statement for the annual membership meeting

 

Article VI – MEETINGS

A.      An Annual Chapter Meeting shall be held at the time of the PNWD Annual Meeting.

B.     Other meetings shall be at the discretion of the membership.

 

Article VII – AMENDMENTS

These Bylaws may be amended at any Chapter meeting by a majority vote of the members present.  Written notice of the amendment shall be mailed to members not less than 20 days prior to that meeting.
