Kazimierz Bem was born in Łódź, Poland in 1977. Since then he has lived in Canada, Kuwait, the United Kingdom, and the United States, and is now living in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He holds a M. Law degree from the University of Łódź (2001) and is working on his Ph.D. at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His dissertation is about the "Development of the Concept of the Refugee" in the American and Dutch legal systems. His articles on that subject are published in legal journals.
He devotes his free time to studying the Polish Reformation and the history of the noble patronage of the Polish Reformed churches from the 16th till the 20th century. He has published several articles on the topic in English, as well as in Polish. His interest in Unitarians stems not only from the fact that one of his 16th-century ancestors was Unitarian, but because of the Reformed - Unitarian links in Poland. Although raised a Roman Catholic by his father, he is now a member of the Polish Reformed Church and works with its History Committee. While in Amsterdam he attends the English Reformed Church.
