The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Northern Nevada, located at 780 Del Monte Lane in Reno, Nevada is looking for a pianist to start on the
2008-2009 church year.
Time commitment during church year:
September (after Labor Day) - June (2nd Sunday)
- Sundays 9:00 am - end of service (11:30-ish am). Up to one Sunday off per month (counting holiday weekends)
- Mondays 7:00 pm - 8:45 pm - choir rehearsal every Monday except the Monday after Christmas and as announced
The ideal pianist for this position will.
- Attend all required Monday and Sunday rehearsals and services
- Be punctual and reliable
- Exhibit sensitivity to the Fellowship's worship environment
- Be comfortable with a wide variety of musical styles
- Sight-read and help drill the choir on SATB parts on the piano
- Have a good sense of rhythm and an ear for harmonic intervals
- Quickly and accurately learn (or sight-read) hymns and accompaniments
- Play hymns and songs in ways that help the congregation sing along
- Closely follow the Director's guidance on tempo, dynamics, etc. with choir
- Creatively and effectively select, prepare, and perform instrumental
interludes that enhances the mood and theme of each Sunday service
- Work collaboratively with the Music Director and the Fellowship's vision

- Make a "ministry" of her/his role as Fellowship Pianist
- Have verifiable experience and references
- (A plus) offer to play a handful of Sundays during the summer months
